1. Where are you based?

We have 3 branches. We have our Derby branch 126 Green Lane, Derby. DE1 1RY. Our Burton

Branch at 149-150 High Street, Burton on Trent DE14 1JE.

 

2. Can I pay cash for classes?

Not at the moment. We want to ensure payment safety for both parties, so all classes and

uniform are paid online through our invoicing system on class manager. You can pay by card at the studio when you first begin at the studio until the next monthly invoice is due.. Classes need to paid for monthly in advance. 

 

3. When do we need to buy uniform?

We allow dancers a month to settle into classes and then suggest that you purchase uniform.

We suggest starting with dance shoes first and then leotard, skirt, shorts etc. A guide to

uniform is in our handbook.  

 

4. Where can we purchase uniform from?

You can buy uniform directly from us and at a competitive price.

You can order through  an online form. Complete this and an order will be placed once the item has been paid for.

5. How long does uniform take to arrive?

Online uniform normally takes 1-2 weeks if in stock. If not in stock, we will inform you of delivery

date. Our Activated Industry uniform (Jackets, leggings etc.) is only ordered twice a year.

One order ready for Christmas delivery and then again for Easter time in readiness for

summer show. We do keep a few items in stock so please ask what we have available in the shop as these will be available to purchase at your visit.

6. What is the free trial class and how long does this last for? 

We offer a 7 day free class pass. This means your dancer can try as many dance classes as they like for free in the 7 days. If they would like to try more after the 7 days then please speak to our receptionist. Once you have completed your 7 day trial you will receive a welcome pack by email which will have a welcome letter, registration information, handbook, uniform guide, school calendar and links to our social media pages and members only files. Once registered you will become a member of  our class manager portal and receive our weekly bulletin as well as social media updates.

7. What if I want to add another class to my registration?

Speak to the receptionist who will agree it with our Principals and then you will need to complete an additional online registration form. Once that is complete we will add you to the register or you can add 

your dancer to the class through the class manager portal. 

 

8. What if I want to stop a class?

We hope you would discuss with us before you do. However, we would like an email from

you to inform us of the class you wish to stop attending. This will be the date of your one

months’ notice. The class will be removed from your invoice once the month has concluded.

 

9. Do I have to pay when my child doesn’t attend?

Yes, the expenses for staff, rent, heating and lighting still must be paid for. We have ensured

that we follow school holidays which means dancers can have time off at these times.

10. I would like to help how can I get involved?

The school has a parents committee that help with fundraising and events. Please ask our

receptionists and they will add you to the Facebook group that the group run. We welcome

new members. If you would like to help backstage with events, then you will need a current

DBS or chaperone licence. This is the law for the safeguarding of children. Please enquire at

reception about how to apply for DBS/chaperone licence if interested. There is a cost

involved if you do not already have a DBS/chaperone licence.

 

11. Does my dancer need to take their exam?

We do have several graded classes in ballet, tap and modern. We do also take exams in 

lyrical, acrobatics and musical theatre and are planning to introduce exams in other subjects later in the year. Whilst it is not compulsory for our dancers to take exams dancers  they do move

through grades in these classes and dancers may feel left behind or not included. The higher

grades also have GCSE and A level equivalence with UCAS points attached for dancers

who are considering university or college.

 

12. Does my dancer have to take part in the annual show?

We encourage all of  our dancers to be part of the show as it is a great experience and a

great team building  opportunity, building self confidence.

13. Do you have car parking facilities?

Our Derby studio has free parking behind the studio from 5pm weekdays and all day at the weekends. Our Burton studio does have free parking during weekdays up to 5.30pm. There is free cark parking from 3pm opposite The Crossing public house.

14. Can my dancers be left at the studio?

You can leave your dancer at the studio while taking classes and we are happy to have

your dancer wait in the changing room if there is a gap between classes. However, due to

limited space we do only expect dancers who are waiting for their classes to be at the studio. Our waiting areas are opening in the Autumn term and we welcome parents back to the studio.

15. When is the studio  reception open?

Monday - Friday 4.30pm - 8.00pm 

Saturday 9.00am - 4.00pm 

Sunday Closed unless extra rehearsals or lessons.

16. How do I get in  contact UC Dance?

The quickest way to contact UC Dance is through our public Facebook page messenger

UC Dance. You can use the website contact page and you can also text Tel: 07960248192. Calling is more difficult as due to teaching we struggle to answer the phone. We would only suggest calling in an emergency. We do have studio phones when we are open. We ask you use the studio phones when classes are running.

17. How do I join the festival/competition team?

The festival team is by invitation only.  However, if you have been with UC Dance

some time you can enquire about joining the team. We are looking for dancers who have

excellent attendance, show great commitment and enthusiasm and have a willingness to try

new things.
